Whitianga Scallop Festival
28 and 29 August 2010
Indulge in scallop cuisine creations and soak up Whitianga's harbour vista as some of New Zealand's best live bands play on one of four stages with various scallop flavoured events held over a few days. K2 is the 200k road cycling tour of the Coromandel Peninsula that has been dubbed “New Zealand’s toughest bike race”. Since the inaugural event in 2002, this spectacular and challenging tour of the Coromandel Peninsula has become one of New Zealand’s favourite road cycling events. The event is also unique in that it comprises of four continuous stages and starts in a new town each year.
Pohutukawa Festival

The Pohutukawa Festival includes a range of different events throughout the Coromandel. Over 6000 people attended the 5 main events in 2009. This years highlights include the Whangamata Jazz, Art and Blues Festival, the Kauri Run and the Tangiaro Kiwi Retreat. www.pohutukawafestival.co.nz
Coromandel Dive Festival

A weekend celebrating the Coromandel Peninsula.
A fun filled weekend of dive related activivities including underwater photo competitions for the novice to the experienced, dive hunting competitions, treasure hunts, scuba Olympics with fancy dress party on the Saturday night.

One Base Fishing Tournament
Brought To Whitianga by the Mercury Bay Game Fishing Club. The club has some wonderful history and is one of the first game fishing clubs to be established in New Zealand. Every year the club holds a number of tournaments, including the annual One Base and the Gamefish Classic being two of the premium tournaments in the country.
